On August 17, 2002 David Whitman, passed away after a 2 year battle with lung cancer. David Whitman, 61, co owned and operated Whitmans' Hair Design, and Whitmans' Scissors in Brattleboro Vermont. He started out working in his mother's beauty shop and went on to be the general manager for the Breck company. He was a very well known artist in his craft. He along with his wife Andrea, did many shows, and shared the platform with such greats as Paul Mitchell, and Vidal Sasoon. He was a Pioneer in the beauty industry, and surely left his mark on everyone he came in contact with. Throughout the years, the Whitmans, held many advanced private classes, which would bring in hair dressers form all over the world. It was not unusual for there to be 50-100 stylist from all over in attendance. He will be surely missed by his family, friends, and peers. One of David's favorite quotes, was " This industry, is all about hair dressers helping hair dressers." He lived by these words, and shared his knowledge with others. he always said "my first pair of shoes came from this business, and so will my last." He was not only a great artist, but also a great man and father. He leaves behind seven children, four grand children, one great grand child, and a very talented staff. Whitmans' Scissors, and Whitmans' Hair Design, will continue to live on with his wife Andrea, and son Derek. We have very big shoes to fill, but we know he is still with us, and will help guide us.
